5 Day Malt Whisky Experience

The Water of Life.  Learn the processes and explore the land that has been creating the finest malt whisky for over one thousand years.

 

DAY 1: We begin the day heading straight for Stirling and on to the recently refurbished Tullibardine Distillery beneath the Ochill Hill in Perthsire where the Highlands meet the Lowlands.  

Then a drive up into the Heart of Scotland to Edradour Distillery by Pitlochry, the smallest distillery in Scotland.  With lunch spent at the Moulin Hotel and Brewery.

Continuing north and crossing the Highland line we reach Speyside, with the greatest concentration of distilleries in Scotland. In fact over half of Scotland's single malts come from this reagion.  Choose from Aberlour, Benromach, Cardhu, Glen Grant, Glen Moray, Glendronach, Glenfarclas, Strathisla,  The Balvenie, Macallan, Glenfiddich and Glen Livet.

The night will spent in Inverness, Capital of the Highlands.

DAY 2: Beginning our drive along Loch Ness, you'll have the chance to take a cruise looking out for the famous Nessie.  Jouneying north and west through Loch Aslsh we cross over the sea to the magical Isle of Skye to surely one the the finest malt whisky distilleries, Talisker.  The original building destroyed by fire some years ago, the new site is in one of the the most scenic parts of the Island.

DAY 3: Leaving the Isle of Skye we journey southwards, through Fort William, beneath Ben Nevis, through Glencoe to Oban.   A chance to sample Oban's Finest before boarding the ferry to Islay.

DAY 4: A malt whisky lovers dream, the small island of Islay boast 7 distilleries, Adrbeg, Bowmore, Bunnahabhain, Bruichladich, Caol Ila, Lagavulin, Laphroig, Port Ellen.  Not to mention Jura.   A full day will be spent visiting as many as you like.  What better way to celebrate the last night of your tour with a taste testing in the local pub.

Day 5: Leaving Islay on the moring ferry we make our way back to Edinburgh, but not with out a final visit to a Lowland distillery, Auchentoshan by the Clyde or Glenkintchie on the ourskirts of Edinburgh.
